Description
This Old World Pepperoni Pizza is a nod to classic pizzeria-style pies, featuring crispy, curled pepperoni slices with a smoky, spicy kick. Made with a chewy homemade dough, zesty tomato sauce, and a generous layer of melted mozzarella, it’s the ultimate comfort food straight from the oven.
Ingredients
-
1 lb pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
-
½ cup tomato pizza sauce
-
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
25–30 slices Old World pepperoni
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
½ tsp dried oregano
-
¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
-
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
-
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
-
Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper.
-
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border.
-
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce.
-
Top with Old World pepperoni slices, spacing them slightly so they crisp up.
-
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano and red pepper flakes.
-
Carefully slide the pizza (with parchment) onto the hot pizza stone or baking sheet.
-
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the pepperoni is curled and crispy.
-
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and serve hot.
